Catch a Vision for Kazakhstan
The former Soviet republic of Kazakhstan is one of the most spiritually dynamic places in the world today. Kazakhstan is a predominantly Muslim nation. However, religious freedom is constitutionally guaranteed, people are asking deep spiritual questions, and Westerners are generally welcome.
While Russian language and culture flourishes in Kazakhstan, a number of other ethnic groups contribute to the region's ethnic diversity: Kazakhs, Uzbeks, Tatars, Uygurs and more! Many of these ethnic groups don't have churches where they can worship in their own language.
People in Kazakhstan realize that the future economic success of their country depends on learning English. As a conversational English teacher, you provide a needed service to appreciative students, who range from teenagers to adults. The genuine friendships that develop in the classroom are starting points for deeper conversations about life and faith. TeachOverseas volunteers are able to openly hold weekly activities that engage people in lively discussions about their beliefs. We invite you to explore joining our team in this exciting region of the world!

Director's Notes
A note from the Regional Director: When the film "Borat" hit theaters, many people heard about Kazakhstan for the first time. Serving with TeachOvereas, you will have the opportunity to see the real Kazakhstan, a Central Asian country with rich resources, a diverse population, and a rich and fascinating history. Come and have a cup of tea with students, take a walk in fresh-fallen snow, and enjoy the natural beauty of the Central Asian steppe.
I love my life here! Never let anyone tell you that life in Karaganda, Kazakhstan is boring.
